It is April fool’s day again and while the snow in Northeast isn’t a joke this year, Google is at it again. This year they have a couple different pranks up for your enjoyment. I actually look forward to this time of year for the wonderful, and smart April fool’s jokes that Google puts out. There are a couple other companies getting in to the mix already this morning though including Hulu and ThinkGeek.
The first is my favorite of Google’s this year, it is the Voice-analyzer this tool is there to prevent drunken dialing. Follow the link and check it out, but to sum it up, you set it up for a time period where it forces you to prove you are capable of holding a conversation, or your call will not be completed. Not only that, if you fail it will send you cab info for three different cab companies in the area, brilliant! Next is a job posting for an Autocompleter job posting, ever wonder how your searches get completed, well apparently it’s a team of people guessing what you are typing and correcting your spelling.
Lastly for Google proper, there was the Google Motion, a take on Microsoft’s Kinect motion system, for completing Gmail tasks, as well as working in Google docs check out the video of it in action. Imagine if you had to dance around your office to get anything done. One more from Google do a web search for Helvetica and enjoy, trust me. YouTube also got in on the action, with YouTube 1911, where all videos, are look they are looking like they are out of the early 1900’s. Be sure to check out all the fun this year there are plenty more all over the web so enjoy!
